What this site stores on your device, what it loads only if you allow it, and how to change your mind.

The short version
- We store one strictly necessary item: your answer to the consent banner. It never leaves your browser.
- Nothing else loads until you allow it. If you decline analytics, the Google script is never requested — not loaded and told not to track.
- Nothing you type into a calculator is stored or transmitted. The maths runs in your browser.
- We do not use advertising cookies, and there is no advertising on this site today.
Change or withdraw your choice
You can change your mind at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as giving consent: . Clearing this site’s data in your browser has the same effect. We also ask again automatically every six months.

Legal basis
Storing or reading information on your device requires your consent, unless it is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. The consent record is strictly necessary precisely because it exists to give effect to your decision — without it we could not remember that you declined.
- Consent preference: Strictly necessary: storing a consent decision is exempt from the consent requirement under Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, because it exists to give effect to your choice.
- Server access logs: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): operating and securing the service. No consent is required, and none is sought.
- Google Analytics 4: Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), and consent for the storage of information on your device under Art. 5(3) ePrivacy / the Spanish cookie rules and UK PECR.
- Newsletter sign-up: Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given by submitting the form.
- Affiliate tracking: Not applicable to us: we set no affiliate cookie and run no affiliate script. The destination site is the controller for anything it sets.
Cookies set by other sites
When you follow a link from here to a bank, lender or regulator, you leave this site and that organisation’s own cookie and privacy policies apply. We have no control over what they set and cannot switch it off from here. Where a link is a paid placement it is labelled as such — see how we make money.
Browser controls
Your browser can block or delete cookies and site data independently of the choice you make here. Blocking strictly necessary storage will mean we cannot remember your consent decision and you will be asked on every visit.
Changes
If we introduce a new technology, this page and the consent banner change together — they are generated from the same list in the source code — and consent is sought again where it is required.
